Ignite Program
'Unlock Your Potential'

The Ignite Program is a small group experience held in our purpose-designed therapy clinic in Melville. This intensive 7-week program is designed to establish establish a structured routine, boost your confidence, and promote optimal brain and cognitive stimulation to support you in achieving the best outcomes.

 

Family and carers can enjoy 1.5 hours of free time, knowing your loved one is involved in meaningful activities, allowing you time to relax or run errands nearby.

Key Features of the Ignite Program

  • Intensive Learning:  7-week program with 2 sessions per week for a structured and consistent approach.

  • Personalised Therapy Sessions: 14 custom-designed sessions tailored to individual interests.

  • Small Group Setting: Groups limited to 5 participants for a supportive and intimate environment.

  • Professional Facilitators: Groups of 4 or more include two facilitators for individual support. 

  • Comfortable Setting: Relaxing therapy space in Melville with aromatherapy, calming decor, and comfortable seating.

  • Family-Friendly:  Includes a drop-off routine to support the therapeutic process.

  • Social Connection:  Enjoy refreshments and connect with other participants.

  • Focus on Well-being:  Engage in fun and enjoyable activities that promote positive mental health.

What’s Included in the Ignite Program

  • 21 Hours of Personalised CST Therapy: Fourteen 1.5-hour sessions tailored to individual interests and designed to encourage social and cognitive engagement. 

  • Enhanced Support Environment:  Each session is allocated 2 hours of therapy time, including 15 minutes before and after each session for settling in, connecting with other group members and supervised 

  • ​Regular Family Updates: Progress emails including photos and activity description and details, to keep families informed.

  • Final Session Celebration: One family member invited to join the final session.

  • Refreshments (tea, coffee, and light snacks) provided during each session.

  • Accessible Parking: Free parking is available at the therapy centre.

  • Resources:  All necessary resources provided for the program.

  • Final Gift:  A meaningful gift presented upon program completion.

Eligibility Criteria?

Diagnosed with or showing signs of mild-to-moderate dementia.

Able to participate in a small group setting and can use toilet independently

Can see & hear well enough to engage with program materials and discussions.

Able to attend most sessions at the Melville Clinic on scheduled dates.

A home assessment is required prior to undertaking the program to allow us to individualise the resources and content

Is there Funding or Rebates Available?

Funding
  • Government Funding:

    • Program can be fully funded through Home Care Packages (HCP) and NDIS plans (both plan-managed and self-managed).

  • Private Health Insurance:

    • Please contact your health fund to discuss potential subsidies.  My AHPRA registration number is PHY0001556703. 

  • Medicare

    • We are registered with Medicare for both home visits and clinic sessions.

  • Private Payment:

    • Many clients choose to pay privately for therapy services as they can see the high value provided by our program packages.

    • Flexible payment arrangements may be available.​

  • Dementia Supplements:

    • Local Council Support: If you are over 65 and hold a valid concession card, contact your local council to enquire about available support. For example, the Melville Council offers a one-time payment of $300.

    • Home Care Package Top-Up: If you receive a Home Care Package and meet the Psychogeriatric Assessment Scales (PAS) criteria, you may be eligible for a top-up of up to $7,000.

Where Can I Read the Evidence for This Program?

A 2024 review showed that CST significantly improves memory, language, and overall quality of life. The review recommends that CST become a standard treatment for people with mild to moderate dementia.    Link here
