Strengthening Minds, Building Connections
When dementia becomes part of family life, people tell me they DON'T WANT more information - they want practical guidance they can actually use.
They want to know how to support their loved one’s thinking and communication, and how to protect their relationship along the way.
Connect at Home™ is our 8-week, home-based program designed to fit naturally into everyday life.
Grounded in research, it uses guided conversations and meaningful activities to help strengthen thinking and communication, build confidence, and support connection with the people who matter most — at home.

Common Concerns...
"Is this program hard enough for my loved one? I don't want them to feel belittled"
This program was developed by a neurological physiotherapist using evidence-based Cognitive Stimulation Therapy approaches. It has been carefully designed to be respectful, engaging, and meaningful for people living with dementia. These are not games. The activities are structured to stimulate different areas of thinking that are commonly affected by dementia, such as attention, communication, reasoning, and memory. The guided resources provide prompts and structure to support deeper conversations, shared thinking, and discussion. The real value of the program isn’t about getting answers right or completing tasks. The therapy happens in the conversations you have together — sharing ideas, experiences, opinions, and reflections in a way that honours the person’s life, strengths, and identity. A great deal of thought has gone into making the program feel sophisticated without being overwhelming. People from a wide range of backgrounds have taken part and enjoyed the sessions, including those who have spent their lives problem-solving, learning, and engaging deeply with the world.
"I want my loved one to stay socially connected. Can a home-based program help with this?"
This is a very understandable concern. Social connection plays an important role in confidence, wellbeing, and quality of life. We often suggest thinking of support as two complementary parts. The home program provides structured, evidence-based cognitive stimulation to support thinking, communication, and confidence. Social activities, on the other hand, provide ongoing connection, routine, and enjoyment. A home-based program is not a replacement for social connection. Instead, many families find that when thinking and communication are being supported, their loved one feels more confident and engaged when spending time with others. Local councils and community organisations often offer a range of social options depending on interests and support needs, including seniors’ groups, men’s sheds, art or music groups, and memory cafés.
"I don't want to be my loved one's therapist" - we don't want you to be either
Connect at Home™ is made to fit into everyday life. The sessions are short, relaxed, and designed to be enjoyed together in moments you’re already sharing — like having a coffee or sitting on the lounge. We know that supporting someone can take a lot of energy, especially when life already feels full. The program can be shared with a support worker or trusted friend, and it’s also okay if this doesn’t feel like the right fit for you right now.
