Evidence-based guidance and activities to support people and families after a diagnosis.
What is The Connect Method™?
The Connect Method™ blends evidence-informed cognitive stimulation, communication strategies, sensory approaches, and strengths-based principles to support cognitive wellbeing, connection, and participation in everyday life.
It draws on recognised research - including Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST)*, neuroscience, physiotherapy, and sensory engagement - and translates this into a simple, practical approach families can use confidently at home.
The Connect Method™ is not a clinical therapy or treatment model. It is an education-based framework that supports people living with dementia and their families through structured cognitive engagement, strengths-based conversation, sensory and communication strategies, and meaningful everyday activity.
This clear, simple guidance helps strengthen communication, build carer confidence, support daily participation, and encourage meaningful engagement and connection.
The Connect Method™ helps families:
-
create enjoyable, meaningful conversations and shared moments
-
support communication and participation in everyday life
-
build confidence in how to engage at home
-
focus on strengths while gently supporting areas that feel harder
-
feel clearer, calmer, and more capable in daily routines
-
nurture wellbeing and connection within the family
-
recognise what supports a person to continue living well

The Science behind the Connect Method™
The Connect Method™ is grounded in recognised, evidence-informed approaches used to support people living with dementia.
It brings together key principles from Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST)*, neuroscience, physiotherapy, and sensory engagement, and translates them into clear, practical ways families and support teams can use in daily life.
Rather than being a single program, it provides an easy-to-follow framework that strengthens family connection and integrates meaningful activity into everyday routines. It helps people develop true understanding so they can move forward with confidence, and creates enjoyable moments that support thinking, communication, and confidence through guided experiences.
Developed from over 20 years of experience in neuro-rehabilitation and advanced training in dementia and health leadership, The Connect Method™ turns research into everyday strategies that feel realistic, meaningful, and supportive for everyone.

*Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) was developed by Professor Aimee Spector and colleagues at University College London (UCL). The Connect Method™ acknowledges this framework as one of several evidence-based influences. All content and materials have been independently created by Amanda Burnby and Absolute Care Therapy.
