Evidence-based guidance and activities to support people and families after a diagnosis.
What is The Connect Method™?
Developed by neurological physiotherapist Amanda Burnby, The Connect Method™ blends cognitive stimulation, rehabilitation principles, and sensory-based approaches to help people living with dementia stay engaged, connected, and confident in everyday life.
It draws on evidence-informed practices - including Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST)*, neuroscience, physiotherapy, and sensory research - and translates them into a simple, practical model that families, support staff, and community teams can use in daily life.
Rather than being a single program, The Connect Method™ is the foundation behind all of our offerings. It helps families and care teams:
-
understand what supports people living with dementia continue to living well
-
create enjoyable, meaningful conversations and shared moments
-
build confidence through structure, familiarity, and purposeful engagement
-
focus on strengths, while supporting areas that feel harder
-
use family and carer support in ways that feels supportive and realistic

The Science behind the Connect Method™
The Connect Method™ is grounded in recognised, evidence-informed approaches used to support people living with dementia.
It brings together key principles from Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST)*, neuroscience, physiotherapy, and sensory engagement, and translates them into clear, practical ways families and support teams can use in daily life.
Rather than being a single program, it provides an easy-to-follow framework that strengthens family connection and integrates meaningful activity into everyday routines.
It helps people develop true understanding so they can move forward with confidence, and creates enjoyable moments that support thinking, communication, and confidence through guided experiences.
Developed from over 20 years of experience in neuro-rehabilitation and advanced training in dementia and health leadership, The Connect Method™ turns research into everyday strategies that feel realistic, meaningful, and supportive for everyone.

*Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) was developed by Professor Aimee Spector and colleagues at University College London (UCL). The Connect Method™ acknowledges this framework as one of several evidence-based influences. All content and materials have been independently created by Amanda Burnby and Absolute Care Therapy.
